The Wall

So right now i am stuck. Scars has been released, the prerelease events are over, the release party has ended and people have started to build for standard. I, like everyone else...well not everyone else but most people were excited to get started on the deck building and in the last few days articles on several websites have flourished and given the magic community a foundation. And since the pre release of scars i have started to brew lists on countless pieces of paper trying to put together a deck that will that will take grasp of the format and hopefully people will notice.
Whats Built So Far
 i seemed to have a pretty good rhythm of putting together some good decks. i had Orzhov mimic vat down and i was really happy with how late game it worked but not satisfied with its early game.
i had a Kor equipment build at the end of Shards block and jund kept it down but now that its finally gone i added Red and more equipment. so far its fast, hits hard but slows down after turn four and just finally stops doing anything late.
then there is this R/W or R/W/G liquidmetal "control" deck floating around that just turns everything into artifacts then you smash them with shatter and the dragon and other R/W artifact hate. but i am really just looking at it from a distance to see if anything actually comes to it.
I also considered making a deck with the new Phoenix...next
and right now i am toying with U/W control and i have so much of the deck built i just need...jace 2.0, story of my life. seems like everyone just needs that card to play blue. Blue=Jace
So these are the brief decks i have some kind of an idea and i may or may not expand on them. but yesterday while searching through the forms for a new idea for a list, i just stopped. i stopped looking at lists, i stopped coming up with ideas, i just stopped.
Every idea that i came up with seemed dumb, like it would never work and that i was wasting my time, it had hit The Wall. The Wall is something i think most mtg players have hit and may struggle with from time to time. its when you cant get an idea through that makes sense enough to expand upon.its when you can make decklist after decklist and still not be satisfied enough to stop and just settle on one idea. its when you come up with crazy combos and interactions with cards in your head and when you put those cards in front of you you ask yourself "are you high?"
soooo right now i am finishing this article and i cant becuase i took a break from building and magic for a few hours and now i want to build. fluid ideas are passing through my head and a solid deck seems to be forming. so i guess um...thats it. i had so much to say about The Wall earlier when i was heavily experiencing it but right now... its gone. so to conclude my post i am going to put this up :D

Standard

My B/W control has turn into esper control. counters are effective forms of removal and with the standard format lacking so much removal counters are going to be essential and are going to be essntial to removing key threats.
the only problem i see is stopping the early aggresive strategies  going around. i am reading alot on the forums and hearing on the podcasts that aggro decks emerge at the start of a block and they control slowly emerges later.
wall of omens, black removal in the form of grasp in darkness and doomblade, white removal in the form outs, condemn and disperse justice and my favorite, fume spitter, seem to be good forms of removal. fume sptitter seems like a great one drop, stopping mana dorks, shutting down metal craft and that shitty armor deck, cobra and a whole bunch of x/1 creatures and i have a feeling that those creatures are going to be vital to the format

making friends on twitter

the last two days on twitter have been quite interesting. first off let me say that for all those people that hate on twitter, i reccomend getting an account for a week, find who or what you love and just check it every few hours. it would be celebrities or sports teams, the news or even NASA. it seems like everyone and everything has an account. in my case i use it to follow hot chicks like suicide girls and porn stars, a few friends and lots of magic players and sites...and doombladeguy lol, hes hilarious.
   until recently i had my account locked or hidden or private for some reason and becuase of that, people i would reply to or talk to on twitter, wouldnt respond or even acknowledge the fact that i would be talking to them. it kinda pissed me off becuase it was like hey, if your gonna have a twitter and fans are gonna write at least fuckin respond once in a while. But i learned that if your account is locked, they cant respond unless they are following you. so i unlocked it and i got responses... lots of them actually

Jon Medina
now i first heard about Jon Medina on Mananation.com through Pack to Power, where Jon opened a pack of Rise of Eldrazi and would trade up to a Piece of power 9. well he fuckin did it and it was amazing. at first i was like...who fucking cares but as i read each one and how the trades went down, i became very interested in how and if he was going to be able to do it. so thats pretty much how i feel most people came to know about Jon Medina. Jon also has a site he runs...or ran called mtgmetagame.com, its his blog and he has a few good articles.
becuase of the how well Pack to Power did and how people Jon had become from that, Star City Games hired him to write for the fininacal part of the site and so far hes doing a pretty fucking great job. I also had the pleasure of meeting Jon at GenCon in indianapolis. shook his hand and talked to him a little bit, let him know i was a huge fan, traded him for some Nantuko shades(even tho he valued them way too high and i knew he was already, i mean there was no way i was gonna roll this guy, hes a fucking master) then again near the end of the Con where he was cashing out on trades. it was an honor to actually meet someone whose articles an read and learn from.
now, i have my twitter account unlocked and i am actually replying and asking jon questions through twitter and to my fuckin surprise hes responding and actually having a conversation through twitter. now i am actually at work, its around 530 am and i am freaking out becuase jon medina is actually replying to me. i am like fuck yeah, now try to not to sound dumb...seriously your giving your input to a deck hes suggested dont sound dumb. i go back and forth with jon for about 20 mins or so and i am like...awesome. thats my story about jon medina, hopefully i can get him to follow me on twitter and i can ask him questions at will and just shoot the shit with him.
Medina also gave me a tip or two about this blog itself which i greatly appreciated
Also if anyone reads this get starcity games premium and read his articles, they are fucking awesome and you will actually learn and apply it to your trades

KYT and the Eh Team

now i dont really remember how i started listening to the Eh Team but i started on episode 2 when they didnt have a name and this cast is fucking amazing. after listening to this cast i can easily say that they are the best cast out on the net right now and i have listened to alot of them.
i used to look forward to MNM and YoMtgTaps on starcitygames but now...all about the fuckin Eh Team. this cast is basically some friends that like to play magic, like to play competitive magic and want to share what they think,what they are playing and whats going on at their shops and compititions and are just fucking guys that like to have fun.
Side note
i read the comments that people leave on forums and on their comments on their cast comment section and i read a lot about how people dont like the wearing on the cast. all i have to say about it, is fuck you. seriously fuck yourselfs, its just swearing, we arent 7 year olds and havent hears swearing before. its just swearing, take off your diapers and grow up.
anyways, i have talked with KYT on twitter a little bit but only becuase i first bitched about how the podcast was late.( i listen to their podcasts at least 3 times until the next cast. they are hilarious and they have so much to add to MTG because they have smart people in their cast and getting more than one persons perspective  is genius.) chatted with him for a bit and thats about it. i actually saw that hes following me on twitter and it was actully pretty cool
Also! @Smi77y has been hyping the shit out of that new phoenix from Scars...seriously hyping the shit out of that card. so i asked him about it and he emialed me a list and i have been tracking this changes hes been making. first let me say that his list is legit, if the meta game shows any kinds of holes in it, this deck is going to run over people. GL to you with that deck @smi77y
What These people have done for me
KYT,Jon Medina and the Eh Team have actually helped me a ton. my first few posts where shit, like i would start and just not fucking care to finish. hearing everything these people have do for this game has given me some kind of inspiration to actually give a shit and write better posts. i havent actually started editing things yet but i am writing more meaningful posts and they are posts that i am proud of and i hope to start editing my shit soon.

i have done three sealed events for the month of october...i am bad at sealed construction. out of the three events...i only one three matches and its disgusting.i feel like this format is much more intense in which every move from your first turn is critical so there is no roo to slouch just a little bit. for example this saturday i went to the release party...drafted gbr becuase it was really good, i ended up adding white and playing four colors...four colors...in scars...wtf, but the deck actually wasnt that bad. i had fun playiong with it and seeing how it did against people running one or two colors. my thoery right now is that with all the myr fixers and the lack of removal, it is possible, with the right pool, that you can go up to four colors.

at this point i am devoting all of my time into making this orzhov bw mimic vat control deck.
White
white right now, is the best color to play. it basically has answers to every threat in standard wiether it be artifacts coming out of rise with Revoke Existance, Koth of the hammer with Celestial purge, Valakut with leyline of sanctity and creature based decks with Day of Judgement and Sunblast angel.White also has the better planeswalkers that are currently in print in Ajani,Elspeth 2.0 and Gideon. And with scars comes a new type of weapon against ramp in the form of leonin arbiter. arbiter forces anyone searching their deck to either pay 2 or the spell doesnt go through
i am only briefly touching on whats going on the deck until i do more testing but the reasons behind the cards i am using are there.
Heres the thing with Elspeth...shes amazing.everyone knows that a 4CC planeswalker is obv better than a 5CC but honestly the ability to have her protect you and herself. not to mention that if you have board control already shes just going to gain you life so that you can use her ult to reset the board.
Black
With Shards gone, black has the best spot removal and hand and deck manipulation and black even has draw in the form of sign in blood. quite possibly my new fave 1 drop is the fume spitter. fume spitter is a 1/1 sac creature give target creature minus 1/1. the benifit of having a card like this is that it kills off mana dorks such as birds and cobra and if the myr become popular than those as well. it also combos off with contigion clasp but i will get into that later. another token genterator is skinrender which is the modern day flametounge kavu.
as far as the spells  that are removal are grasp of darkness and doom blade as simple spot and cheap spot as well.
unfortunatly, the planewalkers for black are poor so i wont be putting Vess or Sorin in the deck And i wont be main decking consume the meek in favor of sunblast angel.
Artifacts
there are some artifacts in the deck but i am still testing and i want to get it right. with so many options with the introduction of scars, there is a lot to choose from so when i finish the actual deck i will post the list but as of right now the one card for sure thats in the deck is mimic vat and its fucking incredible
