I AM FAMOUS!!!

Lol, before i start my post i just want to let everyone know what happened this morning.
I had downloaded the 10th podcast of the Ehteam (congrats guys) and as i am goldfishing the deck i am going to post today, i hear Mr.ScottyMac mention his hot wife making him pancakes for dinner. Just then i hear him mention my twitter account name (Williegmyprez) and i am like whoa... FUCK YES!. THEN! fucking Smi77y fuckin gives me props for backing him up with his standard deck choices and i am like...FUCKING YES BROSEPH. AND THEN fucking KYT (manadeprived) said i was a good kid and i was like...thanks KYT, LOL. So that was my morning, i got a shout out from The EhTeam annnnd it was pretty fucking amazing. And if you don't know who the Eh Team are then your fucking missing out and you need to start listening from EP 1 and keep doing so because they are great and the know what the fuck they are talking about. On to the standard!

So since lets say the week of Scars pre release, i have been working on a deck that i havent told anybody about and whats funny is i actually mentioned it in the post Why I Am Not Afraid Of Valakut.  Yes, its the Liquimetal Coating control deck and i got to test it yesterday against two of the notable decks in the format R/U/G and MBC, and i got some really good results out of the deck. But before i get into that, heres the list

R/G/w liquimetal control
4 birds of Paradise
4 liquimetal coating
3 ancient stirrings
3 manic vandal
3 acidic slime
3 shatter
3 oxidda scrapmelter
3 naturalize
3 viridian revel
2 mimic vat
2 ratchet bomb
2 pyroclasm

4 forest
4 mountain
3 tectonic edge
2 arid mesa
2 verdant catacombs
2 rootbound crag
2 sunpetal grove
2 razorverge thicket
2 raging ravine

right now the sideboard is still shakey as i want to put Day of Judgement in but chain reaction just seems so much better in the elves match up.
Also let me say to Smi77y and KYT, that when you look at the list, your going to see Ratchet Bomb. Now i originally said the card sucked and it sucked pretty bad BUT! when i actually played with it, it did marvels to the game itself. at one point he did nothing becuase of the bomb in play at 3 and i was firmly in control stone raining his islands preventing him from playing frost titan. it wasnt until i made the mistake of turning the nonbasic land he had in play into an artifact to draw a card, did i realize that i should have tech edge him then manic vandaled his other island. i made the mistake and thats why i lost, but the point is that ratchet bomb stops players from wanting to play cards in fear of them getting it destroyed. Even just the looming threat of it being dropped on turn two makes people either play around it or play slower and much more cautiously.

Anyways, thats the deck i have been keeping under wraps until yesterday. i had previously seen the people at SuperStars playing a U/W/R version and it was just terrible. the win con was jace and it basically controlled the board with venser and counters, whatever. i dont want to invest into jace because i dont want to pay 80 bucks for him, i can because i get paid well enough to get the set but i would rather not. So i defected to play a different kind of control that didnt involve blue and right now it works really well

EDIT!
shit shit shit
The deck focuses on getting the coating out with Ancient Stirrings and just being able to remove threats that are presented to you with liquimetal coating, shatter, naturlize etc etc. Right now in standard, little annoying artifacts are running wild with no removal and i am gonna shut that shit down and the deck also responds to pyromancer quite nicely. Viridian Revel gives so much card advantage that R/G/W so drastically lacks. When i played yesterday against the RUG deck, i destroyed his Jace TMS and set him back a few turns. the loss i experienced that you read about earlier happened in this game. the weakness of this deck is that if i dont have the Coating, then i have a hand full of artifact destruction so right now i am trying to change that by possibly adding Koth, so i can Koth slap someone and just have the mountains do the attacking in addition to having Garruk make tokens.

  1. Reccomending a non-Jace deck because you don't want to spring for Jace's is pretty unconvincing. But I've been curious to see what the best "Coating" deck would be, it's certainly an interesting combo. Even with Ancient stirrings seems tough to gaurantee finding it, and without it the deck does nothing right?

  2. Lol I could just get the jaces but A everytime I mention spending so much on 4 cards my gf gives me this look like...really??? Really? Then I have a snap back to reality and realize that's an insane amount of money for 4 cards and B I just don't want to have to rely on one card to help me "get there" its a great card no doubt, I have just never been the guy to follow everyone else and netdeck.
And yeah with out the coating the feck loses steam but I am trying to fix that this week and I am pretty sure I got it

  3. We're gonna need more numbers to back up this testing. I'll be at Stars early on Friday to test some more for the 1k.
