starting to think

that i am going to end up like flores...win a states and stuff but not really be one of the greatest players. i love this  game and i want to do great things while i am playhing it. if there is one thing i love about magic is the deck building and the way things are put together and why they should be put together...

probably going to give it a few more days before i put up anything meaningful. i basically have been testing Extended with a RB sligh deck, Standard With Pyromancer, Pauper with Mono Red and EDH/Commander with Kiku and her zombie squad. if anyone is interested in a match just DM me on MTGO @ Goodbyemylove.

also i got my 60cards.com shirt today in the mail, so i am pretty excited about that.

hmmmmmm trying to add stuff to this post... fuck i got deckade last week and its amazing. its something that i reccomend to anyone that takes this game serious and wants to better themselves as a player. Flores has pretty much been playing since the beginning and reading about his progression through the game is something completely different. He puts so much of himself into his writing. you can tell when hes disappointed or just doesnt care. As much as Flores loves the color Blue, he starts out not play blue at all but Necropotence deck and just kinds of evolves from there. at this point in my reading he is Building some Black weenie deck and suggesting that Winter Orb be in aggro decks instead of control decks.
anyways lots to learn and i still have so much of this book to go.
awwww and jin and sun found each other. i fuckin love Lost

brad nelson

does brad nelson completely shitting his pants at worlds actually make him player of the year? does losing at the biggest stage of the year for mtg actually mean he is the player of the year and not the biggest choker of the year? gaaaah? i dont have a problem with brad nelson and i certainly didnt wish for him to do terribly. i am just wondering if him doing so horrid at worlds should qualify him to be player of the year.

btw, i wanted gerryt to win worlds, dude was on fire those two weeks.

vids

how relevant are the drafting vids now?  now that the limited qualifiers are done do people even draft as much? i like that they do them but starcitygames and channelfireball could get more people watching their vids if they would start doing extended vids and articles. channelfireball is actually slowly  adding extended articles because it seems that lsv is a huge supporter of the format...
and  starcity just put out a bu control vid and it was pretty good. reallyenjoyed seeing the deck in action after worlds
pretty sure channel fireball is lacking in the content area. i dunno about most people, but i like to learn things from the articles and take something away from them but aside from fffreak, conley and lsv i dont really think they have much to offer. you have matt nass that is far from being a pro. you have some guy that does financial assessments of legacy cards, i know people play legacy, but if your going to write about the fiancial part of the game, at least know all of it like medina. the last thing i saw by a ruel was a recap of worlds...really? i understand that worlds was going on at the time, but how about some opinions on the current standard and ext portion? how about whether survial is actually good only in the us and not anywhere else?
all i am saying is that you get to read so little when they can offer so much more.
i like tolarian academy, shits crucial lol.

i dont remember i heard this but apperently in europe, survival of the fittest isnt a problem over there but here in america it is. could it be that americans are just lazy and just wait for pros to do something amazing, take the idea and run with it, and never try new ideas purely becuase we are lazy? survival didnt even make it to the finals of worlds and was still banned. and somehow wiuth all the cards in the history of magic, nobody could come up with a deck that could beat that deck? i dont understand that at all.
i am not trying to bash legacy players at all. i am a rouge builder for standard realizing that i need a tier deck to do well not a legacy deck builder...not yet anyways, theres tons of potential in legacy and i know a lot of cards in magic. i have been playing since masquesso i have seen a ton of things in this game. i feel like banning survival is an ok thing, but its going to stop the process of people building different decks and going back to gobs, merfolk and countertop.
i wish i had more to say about legac but until i dive right in i only have an outsiders opinion. but that might chnge this year, so who knows

deck is chosen and testing has begun

i finally put together my standard deck and i have chosen pyromancer. counter burn seems to be really good in my opinion and i dont mind digging for the cards. my sideboard is still building, but ii am really confident about the build so far.i have the deck complete irl but on mtgo i am missing a few rares. i am sure if i got those the testing would be alot more solid but right now its going well. i have shut down the ramp decks and i am getting better against the aggro decks...more testing and results to come

underrated cards

this is a list that i put together prior to worlds and from the looks of it people are actually starting to play cards like spell pierce and Doj and all i have to say about that is...its about time fuckers. dunno what took so long to realize that Doj was a soild card in white and how spell pierce has been sitting in the corner waiting to be played. its really disappointed to see the magic community not play cards liked those when they are clearly good. i attribute people actually playing these cards to Brian Kibler and his Caw-Go deck. becuase with out that deck, nobody would actually remember that Doj and Spell pierce exsisted.

here is a list of a few cards that i feel people have forgotten about in standard. they arent just a whole mess of random cards, but cards that i feel can potentially shake up standard if they are played in the right deck or making the correct meta call. i havent included all of the colors in the set becuase i dont feel like every color has something special that people arent seeing. i mostly wrote this article to show people that there are more cards in standard than Scars of Mirrodin and that if we look back, maybe there will come a combination that can set the bar for standard instead of these decks of the week that we all see so much.

terrastomper
I am pretty sure alot of the magic community is unaware that this card actually exists and its really a shame becuase he is a power house right now. allow me to breakdown terrastomper for everyone. Terrastomper comes in to play with an 8/8 body, which already is higher than most creatures in standard.the highest creatures power and toughness that actually sees play is emerkul and you are not getting him into play with out summoning trap or lots of ramp cards, cobras, overgrown battlements, birds of paradise, llanowars elves, the whole shabang. Alright to an 8/8 body takes down all of the titans along with wurmcoil engine but to go go with the 8/8 body is the trample ability. most cards these days dont have trample, in fact 36 out of 1036 cards in standard actually have trample and on this 8/8 body your gonna run over alot of creatures. like i said, stomper runs over the titans, but right now in standard you are starting to see a trend of smaller creature decks that just seem to overwhelm you, goblins, vampires, elves, boros if you live to play him, are all the smaller decks in standard right now. i also want to mention that Vengevine/ fauna shaman decks are starting to show up and quickly overrun the board, but terrastomper runs over them anways. probably my favorite part of this card is the fact that its uncounterable and thats a big reason that i feel the card is actually playable. Most of the decks in standard run blue and when running blue there are two cards that automatically go into the those decks, mana leak and Jace. and i have to say, Not being able to stop Terrastomper from coming into play is a big deal. he hits play an your opponent automatically has to deal with this guy or he is going to start taking lots of damage very fast. i also want to mention that Terrastomper being green makes him so much easier to cast. summoning trap, lotus cobras, birds of paradise and overgrown battlements make getting to 6 mana no problem at all in fact you could have him into play sooner if you played...

Channelers of Mul Daya
i love Channelers of Mul Daya and its really easy to see why. imagine the scenerio of turn 1 birds of paradise, turn 2 Channelers into a 5/5, turn 3 summoning trap into emerkul or primeval titan or even frost titan, you name it and you can cast it. Channelers puts you at such an advantage early game with double mana accelleration that its hard for your opponent to catch up, let me break it down for you. Channelers of Mul Daya is a 2/2 body with a CC of 3 and makes you play with the top card of your library reveled. if the top card is a land, Channelers gets you 2 land of any color you want, yeah it throws mana at you. there is a second ability that reads, if the top card is a creature then Channelers gets +3/+3 and becomes a 5/5. early game Channelers does so much and puts lots of pressure on an opponent with not only ramping you but the posibility of putting the beats on as well. i personally have played with the Channelers and i know how devestating this card can be. its one thing to actually critisize this card, but to actually wield the power of it is something else.

Bloodhusk ritualist
Right now hand maniplulation seems to be very handy and nobodys is prepared for it. Duress, Inquesition of Kozilek, Mire's toll,Mind Rot are just a few cards that damage the your opponents hand, but nothing is more devestating than mind sludge. MBC decks have the oppertunity to actually run the card but UB control cant actually use it becuase the mana base seems to be too fragile and in the deck of UB there are vitals cards in blue that would suggest putting more swamps in that islands would be a bad idea. One card that continues to go unnoticed is Bloodhusk Ritualist which is basically a mindsludge with legs and you are able to cast it for cheaper becuase of the kicker ability. Being a creature has the ability to dodge Negates and and also adds a creature to your board. Being able to kick the Bloodhusk makes it splashable in BU control making it the perfect card for the mirror and a trick card against other control decks

Smother
i am not quite sure how everyone forgot Smother, but they did. Smother has been reprinted in Worldwake from Onslaught for everyone that forgot and its a killer card to be using right now. The meta seems to be shifting towards early important creatures, Overgrown Battlement, Any Goblins, Vampire Hexmage, the entire WW argentum armor deck, LOTUS COBRA, birds of paradise, tokens, the list goes on and on and still people would rather not play it over lets say disfigure. And if people decide to actually look at this card again, just remember that it also says the destoryed creature cannot regenerate...seems kinda good. I think vampires is the flavor of the week and right now while people are still thinking that it is good enough to contend for standard, smother can now replace doomblade and it takes care of those Bloodthrones quite easily.

Thought gorger
Right now one of the big problems with playing Mono Black, is that it lacks card advantage and i am pretty sure Thought Gorger makes up for that in so many ways.Thought Gorger puts your hand into the graveyard and gives it +1/+1 counters for each card discarded and for some reason people tend to misread the part about the drawing of the cards. The card itself says that when Gouger leaves play you draw cards equal to the counters on him, not placed into the graveyard, not remove from game but leaves play. Which actually means not only will you draw cards when he dies, but if your feeling really desperate you can actually into the roil him, or Jace bounce him back to your hand. Or if you looking for something a little bit fresher, you can go with Venser him out of play, then back in to play. The other plus to actually playing the Gouger, is when he is cast the ability doesnt trigger until it hits the battlefield. so, instead of him discarding your hand when he is cast, you MAY discard your hand when he enters the battlefield. the other significant ability attached to thought gorger is defintatly out of place and that ability is Trample. now i cant rememeber the last time i saw trample on a black card, but this one has it and it seems to be a pretty good fit for the card. your controling the power of this card because of the cards in hand so trample seems way better than you would expect
An issue i have with playing Decks like Mono Black is that when your gasses out from mid to late game your going to continue to draw land and Thought Gorger now turns into a finisher and card advantage when removed from the battlefield

Shatter
Shatter is greatly undervalued in the current standard world and i am having a hard time understanding why.For one, it shuts down tons of cards, everflowing chalice, eldrazi monument, brittle effigy, wurmcoil engine, ratchet bomb, tumble magnet and a whole other lot of other cards relevent in standard. it has a simple cost of 1 red and a colorless and moves at instant speed. what most people aren't worrying about right now is artifact destruction and arent worried about losing their chalice when they really should be worrying about being set back a turn becuase they cant cast their jace. or not being able to have enough mana to play anything after a destructive force. most people are aware that this block of mirrodin is artifact heavy but they dont realize that they are relying more and more on artifact cards.

Day of Judgement
i am having a real hard time understanding why i am putting this card on this list of cards people should play. there are so many creature decks out there, its insane not to be playing this Day of Judgement as it easily handles everyone of them.Today jesse told me that Vampires is top 3 decks in standard and i thought to myself Day of judgement...i just solved that problem. what makes this card so good right now is that it kills everything in a standard format that has little to no creature regeneration and the only creature that ever comes back is vengevine.i am just really baffled that people cant seem to find an answer to these aggro decks, yet there are clearly answers to them staring them in the face.

Worlds

also, i dunno how i didnt write something about Worlds the night of the top 8 but congrats to Guilleume Matignon for Defeating Guilleume Wafo-tapa in the finals in a UB control mirror. i really was rooting for Wafo tapa but i am glad that both made it to the finals and now that Matignon is the champion at Worlds, he is now tied with brad Nelson for Player of the Year and they will be playing in Paris in Feburary which i am sure Guilleume will win...sorrry Brad.
Also, no fucking surprise that the US did shitty at worlds in the team event. and no surprise that they gave him Valakut to play considering it has really good match ups all around and this kid, anthony eason, is clearly shitty when it comes to magic.he should just stick to his childrens game of Pokemon and leave magic to players with skill and dont forget your cheetos kid.pfft
also thanks to flores for helping me get my deckade. its been almost a month and i still havent gotten it and i said something and he went to Matt wang and got this thing some what fixed and hopefully i will be reading his genius this week...

almost to 1000

i wanna thank everyone that has read my blog, i am almost a 1000 views. i have been really busy becuase of the holidays and i havent been able to get much as far as magic writing done. i submitted something to jesse today on the two new cards that were revealed at worlds from Mirrodin Besieged, Mirran and Phyrexian crusader. so keep an eye out for that article. i have also been working on an article about my ptq experience and how i learned quite a few things about magic and the players that play the game. Also if you saw my last entry, your going to notice that i have Decided to play Commander on MTGO becuase i have yet to get any money from my car being totaled and its going to be bad for these people. anyways, i havent gotten my car so i havent been able to go to my store and play for some time so thats kind of a bummer.

EDH update

so now that Commander is the new popular format and i have no way of actually getting to superstars becuase some idiot korean women destroyed Shelly, i have decided to commit to playing commander more often. originally my Commander was going to be Balthor and the them was going to be Zombies, but i have recently learned that Balthor is best used in the deck and that KiKu is a much more threatening Commander that most people will care to admit.

Worlds

after seeing that Wafo Tappa own with BU control i decided to look more into him and he seems like hes one of the best. i played during the time of Pickles and that deck was nuts. anything past i am not too familiar with but i see that he is quite the accomplished player. And normally I would just bash him because he is french, but that’s not really fair of me to do, even though the french are kinda douchey. Anyways hes doing very well at worlds and I am rooting for him.
Whats really surprising is that Brad nelson as of now is 4-4 and is 205th place as of round 9. which really sucks for him,LOL OBV. But whats worse is that Palo is doing really really well and is in the top 5, sitting AT 5th. Good for him! But whats really outstanding is that the now newly inducted hall of famer, Brian Kibler, is undefeated and is 9-0 in day two and it really doesn’t seem like anyone is going to stop him. Right now hes is the main reason I am constantly check the Mother site to see if he is still winning and who he is crushing next. Hes had such a stellar year and clearly deserves to be in the hall after this run.

Worlds is going on right now

LOL and i am laughing at Saito for being a fucking cheater. he could have been in the hall. he could have been in japan right now playing with the best of Magic but right now hes kicking himself for being a dumbass. if hes not doing that then hes probably finding new ways to cheat, because once a cheater always a cheater. Its funny because Saito is like a child. if you let him get away with it more than once hes going to keep going until he is caught. lets hope right now the case isnt that he is going to keep being a child and will learn his lesson and not just say hes sorry and just do it again later...he probably will tho.

also wrote this for the Possible news portion for 60cards.com but i think jesse is going to go in a different direction and i want to mention that its got the Saito information before the Hall of Fame even this evening/in the morning in japan

Hey everyone, this is WillieGmyPrez and I am just bringing you all a few things that have transpired this week.

According to Cedric Phillips, his facebook status reads “No Worlds for me. My career grinding has officially come to a close. It's been real. It's been fun. Hard to say if it's been real fun. Cya on the flip slide Magic grinders!” and with that Cedric Phillips has retired from the game. From what I have gathered, thanks to Mtg Mom or @lifeonauto on twitter, he has recently finished schooling and has decided to focus more on his career and other endeavors. I am sure most of the magic community wishes Cedric the best. Good luck Ceddy P!

A Major development in the suspension Tomoharu Saito. Saito is now being removed from the Hall of Fame as confirmed by WOTC as of today. Yesterday, it was rumored that he had received several emails about the GP Florence situation and had posted a lengthy blog post about not being included into the Hall because of his DQ at the GP.
For those of you who are unaware, Saito was DQ'd at GP Florence for suspicion of clock management and it wasn't long ago that Saito was seen reading Jace, the Mind Sculptor multiple times in a single match causing people to question whether he was draining the clock to force his opponent into a game loss because of time. As a result of his DQ from Florence, Saito is now banned 18 months and will start his Pro Points at zero upon return.

Also Worlds is this weekend, so everyone get ready to have your minds blown by the new decks coming out for Extended and hopefully we will see something emerge out of standard! I am sure everyone has their favorites and an have mine, Go Gerry T!
Thanks for reading

wow

not a single ally deck in the whole standard portion...thats so wierd, i was sure that there was gonna be a large field

edh

i will be finishing my edh deck on friday and my general it balthor the defiler so look out for me my sn is goodbyemylove and hit  me up for some edh

allies with a touch of uw

might just be a rumor but i have been hearing alot about allies being the secret tech for standard at worlds. i dont know exaclty which colors the deck will be, but it will definetly have white. allies as a deck is so explosive becuase they are cheap, they all have triggered abilities that help you gain an advantage and if you dont deal with them quickly they overwhelm you...whats really sad is that people havent realized that that day of judgement is really fucking good and solves this problem.
i expect blue white control to make a huge comeback in the next few months. the deck is just too good not to play and now people are realizing that there are alot of sleepers from scars.tumble magnet and ratchet bomb should be seening more play as a way to deal with larger threats with tumble magnet and decks like vampires and boros with ratchet bomb. if large creature decks like vampires and elves and tokens appear to be a problem sunblast angel is a great answer. i am hoping that it starts to have a presence in peoples sideboard.
and finally people are starting to play spell pierce and its about fucking time. i looove that card. i dont see how people undervalue when it has so much potential. explore, harrow, planeswalkers, doj, fuck there are so many decks that tap out just to get their power cards in play that they dont even hesitate at playing them if you have one mana open. do yourselves a favor and watch how many times an opponent taps out during a game and think to yourself...spell pierce would fuck his shit up right now...

and another thing~

gah i feel like ranting is a good idea tonite, stir some shit up but theres one thing i really want to say but its probably best that i dont so instead i really want to leave this video of family guy that i just watched a few days ago. it just reminds me of...somthing... that i try to listen to from time to time and if you really think about it, your gonna get it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caB8ftqmLsw shits hilarious...sorry its just how i feel about it

ALSO~

there was an LD deck that played in the invitational annnnd it did pretty well sooo i am thinking LD plus Will It blend...might work, just have to cut cards and change the way i play the deck...i am so ready to build again. i thought this PTQ was going to fry my brain but it has only reinvigorated me to build and play more... HERE WE GO!

US nats team

i am starting to think that this year, our nats team is going to be destroyed. sure we have people from channelfireball that are more than capable of winning together becuase they are able to gather the minds of so many pros of the game but what of the other two? right now i am looking up kolos and not finding much other than he works for tcgplayer and i am not even sure how valuable that is.AJ sacher and wescoe write for them...but they both got fired. Flores wont waste his time and i am sure frank has better things to do. as for Anthony Eason...who the hell is this kid and has he even done anything since he some how placed at nats? i posted something on twitter about him only placing at nats becuase he played RDW and how that deck is an auto pilot deck and i was jumped on for A. saying that RDW takes some kind of skill...yeah i dunno about that and B. because...well that was it. Never mind that i was talking about if this kid is good or not. He has played RDW and has accomplished nothing since then. the team is doomed unless he cant go to japan or hes smart and stays at home and watches it online while Ocho goes with wrapter and kolos and kolos steps up his game.
i understand that this is coming off as me talking shit but can you honestly tell yourself that this team is great and has a chance to win worlds as a group? do you really think that Kolos and Anthony are really ready for teams like Japan? China? Germany? France? other than channelfireball players, i this team has little to no chance of winning at Worlds and thats kind of a bummer.

If people have been keeping track of twitter and SCG events you will see that Gerry Thompson has won the invitational today and last week an Open and what a run its been for him this month. hopefully he will take worlds with the hot streak he is on huh? i am thinking that he should be thanking the Eh Team becuase prior to winning this Invitational he was on the cast and talked to the guys. Then he proceeded to win this weekend....soooo yeah dont forget to thank the guys GERRY! and Congrats to him, i really do hope he wins worlds.

This weekend i took part in PTQ paris and i finished 15th just barley missing the top 8 to a deck that also knocked my friend out of contention of top 8. if i would have won, i would have been in top 8 and i am confident that i would have at least made top 4 because of all the shit ton of drafting i had done. his deck was really good and i am going to do a write up on the event and a small video of what my deck was and how amazingly fun it was to play it and my opinion on sealed format and magic as a whole...i have a lot of things to say and i want to make sure i get a write up before i just start write off the top of my head.
another fun thing at the PTQ was that i unknowingly met @Baconhax at the ptq and didnt realize it. he was judging the event and i didnt even know. friendly guy and i think he answered my Slagwurm question.
SECOND! i met Arthur halavais and he was judging. really friendly guy and told me how he is playing a sembalance anvil deck and copies vengevines with rite of replications...W T F... smart guy. it was nice to finally meet.
AND another thing.... i need a fuckin 60cards shirt...i wanna rep the site... i wanna keep winning and get the name out there...tha fuck is my shirt. nobody is gonna rep harder than i do other than maybe jesse...sigh
jesus my grammar is terrible, i should slow down when i am typing
on a quick side note, thought it was really cool that my friend,Vince, knowing that i write for 60cards.com still considered me apart of the Channelfireball group. in no way do i dislike the group or not want to be apart of them, i just decided to not write for channelfireball and decided to join 60cards.com and i dont regret that decision at all, i love what jesse has put together.

ptq

tommorow is the limited ptq and i guess i am as ready as i am gonna be. i played a shit ton of draft so i think i have a good grasp of what to do. i am really hoping i top sixteen again like the last big tourney i preped for. sooo wish me luck. probably post  on how i did and what went on there and if i think i have enough to write then i will ship it to jesse.
also while i am writing here, fuck mtgo. that shit is the biggest waste of time. anyone expecting to improve your game in anything other than limited is wasting their time. standard format is a bunch of idiots just copying th top decks and then theres the bottom feeders with their silly joke decks. your better off just going and playing irl standard or any other constructed format.sure online is available to all but the face that there is no human interaction makes this process weak. you can tell when your opponent has nothing in his hand, you can tell when your opponent is nervous, you get the satisfaction of actually interacting with a human being on the face to face level. your able to smile and say g g to that person and actually play the game. thats what this whole game is about, going out there and being the best not sitting in front of a screen.in no way has mtgo improved me as a constructed player...its just a waste....

Rock

love this article about control and i am seeing a great portion on rock. which make me think that...rock might be possible...just no vindicate

dark naya

so basically i listened to the eh team podcast this morning and got really inspired becuase gerryt was on as a guest talking standard, his gp win and just hanging out with the group. i was thinking yeah, this is what i need to hear, exactly what he was talking about in standad. from rock paper being easy to break to vampires being a bunch of shitty bears. so i start thinking, what cards do i have that i feel can fight standard and i have come to the conclusion that naya has a really good chance to doing some damage and for a while i have been wanting to make a four color deck and poof dark naya is born. hearing the cast makes me want to work more with scott but hes got a life too and i understand that but i need his brain...scoooottymac help me with this list lol

my god

i have been so lazy, havent shaved my beard, gotten a hair cut, written anything of quality, sorry jesse, i was hella drunk and didnt edit my last article get it to you soon bro. i havent played anything as far as paper magic becuase i dont have a car. been really focused on sealed ptq this weekend and the holidays is rape, i am so busy all the time. i got  a sweet kelpie extended deck brewed so i am happy about that. and now i got my new cards in so i am pretty excited to make a solid coating deck. i am seeing what the good decks are and  my sideboard is definatly changing and i am making some main deck changes. i need to get off my ass and start playing more...

Monday, November 29, 2010

well

now that i have reflecting pools, how is four and even five color control not possible. i have been saying that those control decks are possible in standard but with extended, its definatl y possible. i ant wait to get to work on this kelpie deck and it really does look like its going to be four colors despite dcampa saying its  better to be in just the three. i like just having doj and oring in main and have sideboard options. and i am really wanting to take out green simply becuase i dont wanna buy vengevines but...cloudthresher? garruk? kitchen finks? lots of great green in prior blocks. and i just remembered thought sieze from lorwyn too. also really considering not playing jace or just using baby jace, also becuase i dont want to spend that much on cards. but i suppose i could splerge on two of them and the rest of the cards in the next month...he seems like a great investment

Sunday, November 28, 2010

extended

i have decided that i am going to put standard brewing on hold and start brewing for extended. the beginning of the year is an extended portion and i want to be ready. its tenth edition and up this time and i dont really think people have a grasp on the extended format. i have been playing magic for a long time and lorwyn brought some of the most explosive cards to a standard enviornment and combine that with shards block and a completley unexplored scars block, extended is surely to be an intense format. here are just some of the decks i think can be top contenders in extended
doran rock
jund
five color control
cruel control
b/w tokens
g/w aggro
mythic
valakut
valakut scapshift
rdw
r/b aggro
faeries
aggro ww
elves and for medina horde of notions deck. there is the possiblity of new decks emerging but lets face it, a majority of the magic players are going to wait for a pro to play with a list, win and just copy that list.also, thats not even every possible decklist out there that could take top ranks. there are plenty of control cards, esper aggro is very possible and mbc could even emerge

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

hmm

i really think that mindslaver is under valued right now. they must have reprinted it for a reason and becuase they reprinted it for as a mythic, its got to still have some of its value that it did way back in mirrodin. i am thinking a mono blue deck with slavers, architects and counter magic, using frost titans to lock down , jace to control games and sphinx of jwar isle to finish...
also have heavy metal craft cards, mainly blue myr, ratchet bombs, etched champion, wurm coil, lodestone golem as a pair and only a pair, i dont want to be paying extra for a main deck spell pierce or more for a mana leak.
and now theres random talk about tumble magnet being played in main decks... its kind of interesting. the artifact stealing merfolk seems very playable if that is true. ratchet bombs, chalices, effigys, even exliar of immortality. not to mention wurmcoil engines can be stolen as well....random standard thoughts

necrotic ooze

i am wanting to make a rock deck... i see metaknight on twitter trying to start the push to do but no offense to him i think hes going in the wrong direction. past rock decks have been super solid and everytime there has been one when i play, its been great. whats missing is the cards that have made the rock deck legit. spiritmonger, chameleon colosuss, vindicate, doran, lieges...theres so much that has gone into rock decks, there has to be a viable list right now that can come somewhat close...

its not really lazy

i am just in the habit of starting articles and not finishing them...sigh, well tommarow i am going to be cooking the turkey so its going to be articles and hon all morning sooo yeah

draft to sealed

i have not done a sealed toruny since the release of som and right now am half qworried about the ptq next week. i have done a shit load of drafts since then and i am hoping that the sealed format is no different than drafting, just having cards available to  you instead of actually picking them. the other thing that i am worrying about is getting a shit pool. i am comfortable with myself building a solid deck with a few tools, but what if i get nothing? i dont wanna be forcing  two golden urns and no myrs half a poison deck and a bomb metalcraft deck with nothing to finish with... i think i am a way better magic player that most people i know but the only problem i see there is that i live in the bay area. my store is lsvs store...and that store breeds competition and its very high caliber.but i supose thats not a bad thing...i just hope that sealed isnt much differet than drafting...i think i will write up a report for sixtycards....

lol
mul daya channlers

pre SoM

4 birds of paradise
4 mul daya channlers
4 oracle of mul daya
4 summoning trap
1 emerkul
1 iona
3 pekkula wurm
1 ob nixilis
1 hellcarver demon
4 overgrown battlement
4 explore
1 ulamog
1 terastadon

this deck was fun before m11 was out. i actually did really well and almost made top 8 and got 4th place. unfortunatly i was freaking out about making the wrong play, misread the card he played and i conceded and got 9th or something...11th? anyways, i did no play testing other than goldfishing and i just kinda went with it. i got a lot of sick plays like a turn 3 summoning trap at the end of your turn and hitting iona against a mono white deck and end turn hitting emerkul with summoning trap and making you sac permaments and hitting for 15. the deck was insane but mostly i got there because of the channelers. the funny thing is that everyone also hating on mul daya channlers but never took the time to actually play and see what it can do. hitting turn 3 with 6 mana is great or putting the beats to your opponent with a 5/5.
on paper the card is at best mediocre, but while actually playing the card is a whole different story. i can really see why jesse thinks the cards is amazing becuase he has actually seen what it can do as for...well fucking everyone else, they can just sit and laugh at this card but in reality, what can you do with an end turn summoning trap? or what are you going to do against a terrastomper with your hand full of silly counter magic? yeah i doubt anyone remember wtf a terrastomper is and its from zendikar, look that shit up, you wont be disappointed.
anyways...yeah mul daya channelers, i have seen her own face and i actually seen what she can do and when the deck she is in is built properly, shes a house and has great all game potential.

yeeeah

lovin the eh team, givin the shout outs again. i amgonna have to give the cast a few morelistens to give accurate input and what i really like about the show. sucked not having boosh on the last cast, but that was mostly flores fault HAHA,not saying that i dont likehearing what he has to say, becuase everything he says about the game is genius, but boosh is just hella funny. ALSO, mrscottymac, how are you gonna rip up mul daya channelers like that, i fuckin love that card. infact, the next article i write is gonna have it in the list and its actually vital to the deck and i am going to explain why. btw, sorry scott i have been hella busy and i havent started writing the draft, just the outline so far. that it for now, more later gonna have sushi with friends.

oh wait wait, fuckin i am so pumped for ptq paris in december, i think all the drafting i have done will translate to the sealed and i am hoping to get a sealed in the night before the event

sucks that my car is wrecked becuase right now i realyl want to play some irl magic. i am going to crunch down my coating deck into an official naya build and see how that goes. i have a better sideboarding plan and i really wanna check out what the meta is and how right i am about what the current situation of standard is in the area. i am really hoping that soon i will hear something about a car because not having one is killing me/.
supersstars is in san jose and i am in mountain view so getting there is a journey all on its own. not to mention that i had to walk home yesterday and it took an hour and a half...i didnt realize that i had to walk from one town to the next...it was pretty horrible.
i am feeling like i need to do some homework for magic and just find out what cards people are missing from previous sets. see, alot of people dont realize that zendikar block actually still exists...i dont know how people forgot, but only a hand full of cards are actually used from that set...remember convertable turtle? remember smother and obnix? does anyone realize that sphinx of jwar isle is a monster with shroud??? this is the shit i am talking about, then people complain that there are no answers to any of the cards being played.
what happened to the second coming of fish? there is counter magic out there... nobody plays dodge...you can splash blue titan as a finisher
i have finally gotten bored of drafting. i have drafted so much this week and 3-0 and 2-1 to my hearts content. i did two drafts today and i just didnt care right after the first round leading me to believe that it is time for a break from drafting and i need to try a sealed deck tourney. the last time i did t sealed deck was for the irl prerelease for SOM and i did horrible. but now that i feel like i have a grasp on the limited format, i think i can do much better than i usually would.
I have my PTQ paris in december and i am hoping that i do well and i will be trying out new standard concoctions and just hanging out with people that i know attend. last time there was a whole channelfireball store area for ptq amsterdamn which was actually really cool. i was the largest set of people grouped together in the entire tourney and i was pretty happy alot of the stores members showed up. but this time not only will i be playing supporting the channelfireball store but i will be repping 60cards.com, the site i actually write for. sucks that i probably wont get a shirt to wear to the event and its not looking good for the 60cards.com playmat. i usually hate to bitch to people about stuff like that, but i really want to rep the site other than word of mouth. i love working for and with those guys and i can only get so many people to hear what i have to say about that site, but imma do my damnedest to spread the name, hopefully i will come up with some sort way that people will see that i rep them....
its funny that i write for 60cards.com actually. i love the podcast, the guys on the cast are amazing. Jesse and Scott have been nothing but supportive and have been helpping me get to where i want to be in the game. Jesse and Scott are great guys and if it wasnt for them and how much love and passion they devote to 60cards.com and how much love they have for the game, i might actually be writing for channelfireball instead. i was presented with an opportunity to actually write for them. they have LSV and Brad Nelson and blah blah blah...fucking Matt Nass...yeah that guy...i dont wanna get into it about him. but yeah, i had an opportunity to write for CFB...but then i found 60cards.com and i was like.... i gotta write for these guys, they know whats up. i shared everything i could with everyone i knew about 60cards.com, the ehteam podcasts and the theories that i agreed with and lots of people actually took notice and took the time to listen to what i had to say. 60cards.com knows what the fuck they are talking about, Jesse knows exactly what the fuck he is doing and is so devoted to the game, its incredible. how could i not wanna back this guy up and be a part of his site?
i read a few different sites and they are probably just the same ones everyone else goes to. they go look for their writers skim and just wait for more stuff to come out. If you actually follow @smi77y on twitter, you will see his thought process and latley his dissatisfaction with the Standard environment and how he is trying so many builds to try to break it. the dude is insane on the standard builds and its only a matter of time until he makes a tier defining deck...i mean have you seen GW tokens...

Thursday, November 11, 2010

so i pretty much came up with a list of  dark zoo
4 loam lion
4 goblin guide
4 lightning bolts
3 dark tutaledge
4 birds of paradise
4 vengevine
2 spikeshot elder
4 doom blade
...
ok well thats all i got its like super half assed but i really think if i put time into it, it should be good. i like the speed of the deck and the fact that everything costs so little makes me not afraid to play dark tutaledge...i cant ever spell that card right. yeah so i can play it and not worry to much. i also considered putting in a pair of inferno titans as a finisher, it can clear the way for my creatures and to get in for lethal late game. i also have the doomblade for to clear the way and lightning bolts to deal finishing damage or own their creatures as well.the only problem is that the creature quality is not very high. the only reason i have birds of paradise is to snatch up vengevine from the grave and play tutalege...or i could even put in the shaman and squaderon hawks and just go from there...hmmm.i dunno.
right now i am considering just running my coating metal deck just R/G and adding more removal and maybe baloths. i even considered making it JUND  coating becuase i have a better removal set up, i can run memoricide, have grave titan or wurmcoil or even inferno titan as a finisher as well. inferno titan is pretty overlooked and right now all the creatures decks are starting to emerge again with vampires, boros, goblins, elves...so many out there, inferno titan is the bees knees.
i have also been trying to make necrotic ooze work and i really like the cards that support him work. so far my favorite card he works with is geth... the quality of this post is drifting becuase i am thinking of the two decks so i am going to let it go for now...

new zoo

is zoo possible in this stage of the game? using birds of paradise, arbiter, bolts, memnites, ingus, splash black for doom blade and dark tutaledge..
normally i stay away from such build like zoo becuase of that aweful writer that is jeremy fuentes. he used to write for channelfireball until they realized that you can only read so much about how much zoo costs and what it does. but i am going to propose there be a new dark zoo with cheap casting creatures, good spot removal and just a fast pace game... the cards are there and i am going to find them...the deck right now in my mind is like 50 percent possible and i am going to need to do my hw to find the right cards

coating 2

starting to think that the  double blue casting cost for jace is actually hurting the deck. considering putting preordain in for digging for morecards. also considering putting in natures claim in for more destroy cards.... also considering using black for kill spells...i am not quite sure what to add yet.... i could also go back to white and  just making better card choices

Monday, November 8, 2010

i am adding blue to the coating deck. so far i have added
3 baby jace
4 mana leak
2 spell pierce

i really think spell pierce is worth running just for the early game. if people payed attention to the late game, they would realize that everyone taps out like its not a big deal if one blue is up. so large casting spells like genesis wave and destructive force are countered late game....also thinking that becuase summoning trap is instant people play it at end of my turn and it will get countered...
i really wanna fit preodain in but i dont know what to cut. definatly not ancient stirring, but i am gonna need draw in the mid to late game.
more later
i am starting to think that i just spend way too much monies on mtg. i love this game and its pretty much on par with the other impor tant things in my life. this last week i think i drafted like six times on mtgo at about fourteen tix per draft so thats about what eighty four bucks...thats alot of monies. and i mean its not like i dont make bread like a baker but geez, its almost like a hundred bucks...i just need to win more and use the winnings to draft more.
on a side note, i want to apologize to smitty for accidentally posting shit to him on skype...it was to this chick annnnd i felt like a dumbass after i realized i sent it to you.
any ways its just some short thoughts on what i hope is going to be a string of changes in my life and yeah
thanks for reading

Sunday, November 7, 2010

i apologize for the lack of updates. i have been super busy this last week with trying to =brew up some standard decks, work, i got a new laptop so i am drafting alot on online and i am also trying to draft something up for smi77y at 60crards.com. so thats been keeping me pretty occupied. i think tuesday i should be caught up with everything and i should have something for smi77y and for my blog and infact i might have two things for this blog including an update of the coating deck that i want to put up
later

Zuckerberg Test

Everyone that watched "The Social Network" will appreciate this post. And for those that dont know, Mark Zuckerber, creator of Facebook, got drunk after being rejected by a so so looking chick and created a site called facesmash.com. And on that site he used all the hacked information he gathered from various colleges on in the east coast and compared girls based on looks, kinda like HotOrNot.com.
The way Zuckerburg wrote down notes for the FaceSmash website was in quick, small bursts of notes and thats what i am going to try to replicate here.
I do alot of brainstorming at work and for this particular idea, i ended up with a ton on notes...so here we go!

can anyone actually tell my why Kargan dragonlord is priced at what it is? Mono Red hasnt really established itself and he doesnt really fit into a deck...

Why isnt Gaea's revenge seeing more play? there are Ramp decks and Summoning trap decks and there arent any being played main deck from what i can tell...

LOL, Chapin said Wall of Omens was bad, right now i am pretty sure that Wall of Omens is good. Its good becuase everyone took it out of their decks and now decks like goblins are being played and where are the walls now? Now that people have realized that Overgrown Battlement is good(Surprise surprise people), you can now ramp with Battlement and draw a card from Omens...seems good....

People keep saying that WW Quest is bad...why? it requires you to devote your hand to getting Armor, but if you look at whats being played, your more likely to achieve victory than failure. How many ramp decks are there out there? RUG, Eldrazi green,G/w Ramp...seems good. Plus not many people can counter you becuase NOBODY PLAYS SPELL PIERCE.

On that note, why the fuck isnt anyone playing spell pierce? it seems like Myself, Jon Medina(@mtgmetagame) and Mike Flores (@fivewithflores, @floresrewards) are the only people that can appriciate the greatness of that card. if you go to your FNM or play your MTGO dailies, play what ever the fuck deck you want but pay attention to how much you tap out and how often your opponent taps out to play something huge...thing slap yourself in the face for not playing Spell Pierce.

As much as i dont want to say this, but Gerry T is fuckin legit...

Pyromancer Ascension is a great card and has so much potential. why arent people playing this card more and trying more appilcations around the card. Black seems good? Memoricde twice? doomblade twice?? duress, IOK, Smother, Mind rot....the list goes on and on...Grixis Ascension seems good right?

Why dont people try Black and Red? last time i checked the format was kinda slow and red has the best low CC damage spells and black was great with spot removal. Also, the aggro creatures seems really good too. Nantuko shade, Goblin guide, Goblin chieftan, vampire hexmage...what makes the deck some what more interesting becuase of all of the low CC cards is

Dark Tutalege
i think the card is redic! people were really skeptical about it when it came out saying its the next phyrexian arena and not quite BoB, But! it adds the card draw that black lacks so much. And if you combo it with Crystal ball you have got quite the combo there

If people didnt rely on Pros Set reviews, would kuldatha Phoenix and Necrotic Ooze have homes in standard?

Remember when Koth was all the rage...where that deck hes suppost to be owning with?yeah...

Infect seems legit, i am defintaly building it and testing it

Remember smother from onslaught?? does everyone know its been reprinted in worldwake?
Also does everyone remember when they bitched that convertable turtle wasnt printed in Zendikar and finally was in Worldwake...card seems better than in recent memory...

i had one about rock but... i think i am going to keep that one to myself

This is for jenny

There is this girl that i went to high school with named Jenny.(Jenny_Bunnyy on twitter, follow her she says funny shit and shes cute)Now, i havent seen her in sooooo long but we stay connected on twitter. And its funny becuase i love that we stay connected through twitter and i know wouldnt stay connected with anyone else through twitter like i have with her.Awwwww. Anyways she says that she reads my blog,Overthatop.blogspot.com) BUT! she doesnt know what game i play. So,Jenny, i will tell you.

I searched for the perfect image to sum up what the world of magic is
Magic: Gathering wallpaper 1024x768
and i am pretty sure this sums it up. dragons, angels, monsters and creatures of fantasy, Heroes, Villains, great stories. i cant just tell you one thing about the actual story becuase i dont really know the entire history of magic.
Aside from the novels, there is a trading card game and thats what i play
http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/NewtoMagic.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/newtomagic/learntoplay
all that shit there in the vids 3 to the end is what you need to learn about what i play. i really wanted to try to explain it to you myself but while i was writing several drafts of this little blog post i realized how shitty i am at explaining this game to people.

also

am hoping to get manadeprived and sixtycards tshirts so i can rep them in the upcoming events.hopefully they have left overs

new deck time

i have tested the  coating deck as much as i can and now everyone seems to know that i am tthe coating guy so its time to switch it up. i am gonna write down the testing results, how the deck went through two changes and hopefully i can get that shipped to smitty soon and see what he thinks. really happy about the oppertunity and will take full advantage of it and write the best that i can.there are a few decks in mind that i wanna build and very few i actually wanna test so i am gonna do my hw on standard see what i can come up with. list willbe up in the next few days on what i decide, followed by testing...and if land on the deck i am really considering, then a lot of testing and feed back and hopefully a one k event breakdown. later peoples

more testing

i dont think the deck sucks, it just lacks card draw in the late game and is missing a big beater/finisher.i am at the point where i give decks a run for their money i just havent found a way to finish strong. i also want to create a metalcrat deck and it doesnt seem impossible. i wanna be able to rock etched champion becuase protecion from all colors seems great.
anyways there was a suggesstion to add blue instead of white for the draw and counter magic...will be tested and taken under consideration...

busy busy busy

i have been really busy the last few days trying to get my liqimetal coating deck off the ground and of course there is real life and shit too so i am busy with that. also trying to get results done so i can ship a report on a different kind of control to smitty @sixtycards.com...i cant type numbers while i am on my phone and putting up a post.smart phones need to get smarter lol. so yeah if that goes up i will link it...fingers crossed. other than that thank you for reading and make sure you check out sixtycards.com the numbers not letter and manadeprived.com great group of guys and they know what they are talking about also have a podcast, the ehteam, its better than whats casting right now handsdown.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

on a side note

just want to say that when i was testing my liquimetal coating control deck the other day people kept calling my deck cute and funny and shit like that.no offense to zach or anything, he a good guy and i respect him as a player but i am gonna play the deck as much as i want. it may not be top tier and you may have tested a different version, but you dont have to keep saying its a bad deck. the fact that i was giving a top player a run for his money when we were testing proves that there is potential for the deck, hes no fucking slouch. anyways, for those people sayig my deck sucks or its cute or whatever, fuck you. yeah, i know the deck doesnt have jace and nobody has won a major toruney with it or it doesnt cost  more than qpp bucks to make but ya know i put alot of love into my decks and until isay it sucks ,you dont need to tell me it does, i will be the judge of that, fuckers.
lol went all jayboosh on the haters

I AM FAMOUS!!!

Lol, before i start my post i just want to let everyone know what happened this morning.
I had downloaded the 10th podcast of the Ehteam (congrats guys) and as i am goldfishing the deck i am going to post today, i hear Mr.ScottyMac mention his hot wife making him pancakes for dinner. Just then i hear him mention my twitter account name (Williegmyprez) and i am like whoa... FUCK YES!. THEN! fucking Smi77y fuckin gives me props for backing him up with his standard deck choices and i am like...FUCKING YES BROSEPH. AND THEN fucking KYT (manadeprived) said i was a good kid and i was like...thanks KYT, LOL. So that was my morning, i got a shout out from The EhTeam annnnd it was pretty fucking amazing. And if you don't know who the Eh Team are then your fucking missing out and you need to start listening from EP 1 and keep doing so because they are great and the know what the fuck they are talking about. On to the standard!

So since lets say the week of Scars pre release, i have been working on a deck that i havent told anybody about and whats funny is i actually mentioned it in the post Why I Am Not Afraid Of Valakut.  Yes, its the Liquimetal Coating control deck and i got to test it yesterday against two of the notable decks in the format R/U/G and MBC, and i got some really good results out of the deck. But before i get into that, heres the list

R/G/w liquimetal control
4 birds of Paradise
4 liquimetal coating
3 ancient stirrings
3 manic vandal
3 acidic slime
3 shatter
3 oxidda scrapmelter
3 naturalize
3 viridian revel
2 mimic vat
2 ratchet bomb
2 pyroclasm

4 forest
4 mountain
3 tectonic edge
2 arid mesa
2 verdant catacombs
2 rootbound crag
2 sunpetal grove
2 razorverge thicket
2 raging ravine

right now the sideboard is still shakey as i want to put Day of Judgement in but chain reaction just seems so much better in the elves match up.
Also let me say to Smi77y and KYT, that when you look at the list, your going to see Ratchet Bomb. Now i originally said the card sucked and it sucked pretty bad BUT! when i actually played with it, it did marvels to the game itself. at one point he did nothing becuase of the bomb in play at 3 and i was firmly in control stone raining his islands preventing him from playing frost titan. it wasnt until i made the mistake of turning the nonbasic land he had in play into an artifact to draw a card, did i realize that i should have tech edge him then manic vandaled his other island. i made the mistake and thats why i lost, but the point is that ratchet bomb stops players from wanting to play cards in fear of them getting it destroyed. Even just the looming threat of it being dropped on turn two makes people either play around it or play slower and much more cautiously.

Anyways, thats the deck i have been keeping under wraps until yesterday. i had previously seen the people at SuperStars playing a U/W/R version and it was just terrible. the win con was jace and it basically controlled the board with venser and counters, whatever. i dont want to invest into jace because i dont want to pay 80 bucks for him, i can because i get paid well enough to get the set but i would rather not. So i defected to play a different kind of control that didnt involve blue and right now it works really well

EDIT!
shit shit shit
The deck focuses on getting the coating out with Ancient Stirrings and just being able to remove threats that are presented to you with liquimetal coating, shatter, naturlize etc etc. Right now in standard, little annoying artifacts are running wild with no removal and i am gonna shut that shit down and the deck also responds to pyromancer quite nicely. Viridian Revel gives so much card advantage that R/G/W so drastically lacks. When i played yesterday against the RUG deck, i destroyed his Jace TMS and set him back a few turns. the loss i experienced that you read about earlier happened in this game. the weakness of this deck is that if i dont have the Coating, then i have a hand full of artifact destruction so right now i am trying to change that by possibly adding Koth, so i can Koth slap someone and just have the mountains do the attacking in addition to having Garruk make tokens.

testing today

i am going to be testing my MBC list and my secret liquimetal coating deck today. made a question able change in the coating deck becuase of elves having such good luck winning this weekend at the tcgplayer events an for some time there have been rummblings about the being better becuase of the legend and better support elves.
As for the MBC list, its more hand manipulating and and uses mimic vat and lilianas specter and has the option of finishing with nantuko shade or wurmcoil engine. its much better on the spot removal from the lists i am seeing, which by the way, kinda disappointed in. i have been playing black for a loooong time, like invasion block long time and each MBC attempt is preeetty sad. most people dont realize blacks current weakness ands strengths so the decks fall short.
Anyways i will post the list for the MBC with edits and results.

Chapins list

is rather surprising and really just...surprising. its just really basic and its definatally a budget deck. I am not gonna put the list up becuase A. its on SCG premium and B...thats all the reasons. so, i guess i have all the cards that make chapins Pyromancer deck but i really like flores archive trap deck so its gonna be tough to make the choice on what to build to go with.
A question i have for Chapin is why not run pyroclasm in at least the Side. right now with all the creature decks that are rampant, not having them seems like a mistake. the only issue with thinking that is that i am just a guy trying to be a pro or make it as far as i can and hes FUCKING PATRICK CHAPIN. so i mean i understand if i am missing something.

On another note, i made a four color Control deck today on a napkin and like a dumbass that i am...threw it in the fucking garbage with the rest of the trash...fuck imma get there and try it...just have to try to remember everything thats in it

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

OK!

so i have a new esper list and yeah i just cant seem to stay away from that fucking color combonation.
2 trinket mage
2 wurmcoil engine
1 vampire hexmage
3 stoneforge mystic
2 sun titan
3 etched champion

2 eslpeth tirel
1 gideon jura

1 memoricide
3 doomblade
1 volition reins
3 mana leak
2 stoic rebuttal

1 sword of body and mind
2 sword of vengance
2 mimic vat
1 chimeric mass
1 ratchet bomb
1 brittle effigy
1 basilisk collar

2 islands
3 plains
2 swamp
4 marsh flasts
1 mystifying maze
3 glacial fortress
3 celestial colonnade
2 darkslick shores
3 drowned catacomb
so pretty much this is possibly my last hurrah for Esper control. i am not running Jace or Frost Titan and i dont quite have a sideboard complete yet. about 10 or so of the cards have made the list but right now i am waiting to A. see Chapins format breaking list and B to see if flores pyromancer deck is taken seriously or not. I myself have the deck built already but i wanna make sure i can still build before i take a pros approach at a deck, which i normally dont do. i like to build decks whether they are horrible or not, its the part of the game i still really enjoy despite losing.

right now i am considering removing the etched champions and putting in preordains. the deck lacks draw power and with no Jace and Jace running around everywhere else, i am going to end up being behind. i also need to take into consideration what other emerging decks there are in meta. right now i am not sure what i can beat due to not really having tested the deck, but i know what i want the deck to do when i play it. there seem to be a ton of components in the deck but really, its not so complicated to work with. Trinket mages and Stoneforge Mystics search, there is removal in the deck that runs along side with the mimic vats, Gideon is a beast on its own and Elspeth is fucking Elspeth and she makes me an army. The counter magic is pretty self explanitory and i really just liked etched champion but it doesnt seem to be worth it...at all. sorry Champ, another day i suppose.

My back up back up plan is to play Smi77ys deck, which is a tokens deck that loses to ratchet bomb LOL jk. its a token that ramps fairly quickly and from what he has told me has no problems with most of the meta shaping decks other than valakut. but i am so comfortable in the valakut match and knowing how to beat the deck that i only have to worry about U/W control...i fucking hate playing against that deck.

Creatures (5)
Spells (28)
Land (27)
Sideboard (15)

I also decided to work on a liquimetal control deck. i love the interaction with all the cards to be honest. its something not alot of people are going to see coming and i think it has potential and it also feels like an LD deck when it goes off on turn three, so i look forward to sharing that with this blog when i get it more to where i want it to be
Thanks for Reading
