prerelease for scars

i was really excited for scars, really really excited. i feel like i know the set, what cards are good, what interactions i will be going to be facing, iffy combos etc etc. i also feel like i am a really good player, like much better than most people are. the problem with that part is that when i try really really hard, i do really really well and i didnt go in to the pre release with that mentallity and thats probably why i did so poorly
i drafted that night m11 so i could get one in before scars draft started.  roamed around for what seemed like hours because the drafted ended at 10 and midnight was forever away. edh'd some, talked with people i knew and talked about the set and just kinda had a typical fnm. i tried to sleep but only got about 30 mins of shut eye before the event. stupid me parked underneath a light post so that hindered my rest until the event started

i was going to write this super report and edit and all that jazzy shit but...i did horrible. friday night i opened decent shit as far as rares and a bunch of great interactions with my commons and uncommons. first started with U/G poison and big guy beats...17 land and mana screwed. how the fuck does that even happen. game one stuck on 3 land and he just draws into cards i cant deal with because i cant pay for them. game two he just draws the nutz and just owns my shit. pretty pissed that i lost my first round so i decided to switch up the deck a little bit. i ended up going B/G more poison and removal. the deck goes off perfectly i get draws i need in the first game until he slams down the new sword...least removal in the set...playing black AND green....lets go to game two. i drew well no problems with mana since the switch...masticore is played...0-2 drop...fml, but not really cuz i get go sleep and i get a wurmcoil engine :) and i needed the sleep for saturday ....

so i am gonna try something new

in an effort to get this comepative state of mind going, i am going to do a detailed report of both prereleases for scars of mirrodin. its a pretty good time to try my hand at a report becuase i am trying to take the game seriously and i feel like my writing has so many holes its not even funny. so why not take the time to do something really productive in a new enviornment, with new cards andget peoples reactions with unknown cards and combinations.

quick thought on deck idea

UG mass plymorph
Mass Polymorph Putrefax (Pre-Order item. Release date October 1, 2010)
...infect, counters, trample and haste.

4 renegade doppleganger
4 birds of paradise
4 putrefax
4 mana leak
3 cancel
4 awaking zone
4 preordain
just a quick list i came up with no second drafts or card break downs just a rough draft and quick list of the deck. get in there with trample and poison and have counters to back up spells and keep birds and doppleganger alive. maybe llanowar elves in the mix to get there faster...i dunno yet i am just looking for a deck to take over the top...LOL

short thoughts on matt nass

matt nass is currently a writer for channelfireball.com. before matt nass became a writer for channelfireball he was just some goofy looking kid that played magic and more than likely hovered over people that wrote for the site. He pulled off a win at GP oakland and became a feature writer for the site becuase of his victory and suddenly was consider a pro. i for one, dont fucking understand how that happens.
i dont understand how just becuase some kid got lucky at a gp and won with a deck that nobody tested against, become a pro. sure he gets pro points but...is he really a pro? does he really deserve to be a writer for channelfireball? fuck that, people get lucky but that doesnt make him a pro ,although i am impressed that he went  9-0 at gp portland, props for that.
but as i think about that 9-0 run, i read this http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/getting-nassty-brewing-decks-with-scars/ peice of shit article he posted tonight. just a bunch of decks that were not thought out and just sloppy. he included cards that were rotating, card interactions such as fetch lands and arbiter from Scars and fucking gigantomancer 1 of with the new necrotic ooze...get that shit out of here. he admits its cute but if our gonna write an article about decks take it fucking serious, edit it and try to set a foundation for the decks not just bullshit around and write crap for the site cuz they let you. you should be busting your fuckin balls trying to make the articles great and going over the fucking top...lol
end rant
fuck you matt nass

first post :D

Jund is a great deck no doubt but playing against it is the most frustrating thing ever, it has answers to everything when its in a tight spot and its aggressive when it wants to be. it plays the best lowest CC cards that have the most dangerous effect that can easily be played off the back of casade in the form of  bloodbraid elf. bloodbraid elf gives the deck the advantages is needs to put it ahead in a big way.

On October first we all say goodbye to shards of alara block and with it goes the deck that was the most hated of the block, Jund... I fucking hate Jund.
Bloodbraid Elf
Maelstrom Pulse

Strength one of the deck is cascading into maelstrom pulse shuts down everything and is reason one of why i hate this deck.destroy target nonland permenent! serious!? and the card is fucking free off the elf. This weekend i went to the Channelfireball 5K and watched my friend michael Sohn play his variant of jund and when put into an awkard spot in which he would be down creatures, his out would be pulse. pulse will single handedly put you on top of your game when your down
Bloodbraid ElfBlightning

This is the second reason i hate jund, Blightning. what can you say about this little combo of Elf into Blightning. you take three damage or it hits your planeswalker THEN you discard two cards. what more can you hate about that.
the deck itself is a powerhouse no matter how you put it even though i feel like the geopede jund is the weakest out of the varients. i really like that some decks came up with alternate builds with cards like grave titans, slave of bolas, ramp cards and sarkhan the mad.  i am sure that this deck will be missed my many but i am not going to one of those people and i look forward to new standard and i for one welcome the artifact overlords that will soon make up standard...maybe
